Key Roles and Responsibilities:
This AP manager role will be working with the current Senior Manager to manage the different sections of AP and manage it’s 18 total employees (potential for up to 13 direct reports)
Position Description Summary: Provide Freight Accounts Payable general ledger support to the organization through the reviewing, analyzing, journalizing, reconciling, accruing and aging of the payables according to GAAP and company policy. Responsible for paying vendors timely according to the company policy and coded each invoice properly. The development and implementation of methods, systems, and best practices to significantly streamline and improve the accounts payable processes is required.
Principal Accountabilities:
Managing and oversee Freight Accounts Payable to ensure the vendors are paid timely
Ensure department’s monthly close responsibilities are performed accurately and timely in accordance to established policy
Ensure all applicable accounts are reconciled to date and properly reflect performance
Negotiate most favorable payment and pricing terms with all vendors with a monthly report to the management illustrating the significant savings to the company
Review all systems, structures, and processes to identify where improvements can be made to enhance operating and financial performance through the betterment of the accounts payable processes
Suggest new ways to prevent accounts from unnecessary force settling and providing strong and conclusive documentation support for arbitration claims
Review aging report to determine Days Payable Outstanding trends and appropriate pursuit of over paid accounts The individual in this position must be capable of performing all of the essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Skills and Qualifications:
5-10 years AP Manager experience
1099 Experience – will need to own the process front to back
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
