A really fun teaching opportunity is available at three little birds right on the beautiful Lincoln Park in the West Side neighborhood of Jersey City! three little birds west side is a growing, thematic, play-based preschool and an elementary school called Chilltown Elementary School; a thriving After School Program for children in PreK – 8th grade called tlb after 3 and the crazy fun Camp Chilltown for children in PreK-8th grade. We are currently looking for a dynamic Aftercare Teacher to join our creative, talented and loving team for our tlb after 3 after school program for children in Prek – 6th grade. This teacher must have high energy, be loads of fun and be ready to keep our aftercare students engaged and active all while having a blast. This is a great part-time opportunity for a college student or a teacher looking for an extra job after school.
All teachers hired will consistently strive to demonstrate and implement the mission and philosophy of three little birds, which is to serve families through our high-quality, creative and fun programs. Our mission is “Our play is our work!”
We believe, and research supports, that children learn best through play. Our students experience the joy of real play-based, thematic education using a workshop model. It’s not just about what they are learning but also about how they learn. We really listen to our students, and nurture and encourage their play. By doing this, we are helping to create strong, confident, creative members and future leaders of our community.
Aftercare Co-Teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Motivated and willing to develop and implement creative new ideas and initiatives
Supporting the Director’s vision and plans for the aftercare program
Planning and leading indoor and outdoor movement games
Provide a home away from home for our aftercare students by creating a warm and fun environment
Supporting students in their social and emotional growth
Demonstrating an understanding of a child’s growth and development when working with children
Communicating with families on a daily basis through Brightwheel App
Maintaining positive relationships with our families
Creating and maintaining a creative, safe, clean and pleasant physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children
Following all COVID-19 protocols and health and safety practices for the school
Sharing classroom organization and cleaning responsibilities—including keeping equipment and materials disinfected throughout the day
Administering first-aid, supervising children’s personal hygiene and learning to identify and report child abuse/neglect
Above all, showing a professional enthusiasm and love for teaching!

Qualifications:
High energy, fun teaching style
Associates or Bachelors degree in Education or credits in Early Childhood Education is recommended. College students are welcome to apply but must have teaching or summer camp counselor experience.
Must be vaccinated and boosted
Must be able to work Monday-Thursday from 3-6:15pm and Friday from 3-5:15pm.
