Stockton University, Division of Student Affairs seeks an Assistant Vice President for Student Transitions, Access and Retention (STAR) Programs to lead its strategies to promote equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for STAR serves as a member of the Vice President’s Executive Leadership Team, chief student success advisor and liaison to campus and community partners regarding student retention and post-graduate success. The Assistant Vice President provides strategic leadership for a talented team of educators and services that support equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success: Academic Achievement Programs (includes high impact engagement and academic support initiatives for first-generation, BIPOC and Pell-eligible students), Career Education and Development, Educational Opportunity & Success Programs; Military and Veterans Success Center and Student Transition Programs (includes new student, sophomore and junior transition programs and success initiatives).
Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the Vice President for Student Affairs’ Executive Leadership Team, chief student success advisor and senior liaison to campus and community partners regarding student retention and success
Lead, integrate and align STAR programs staff and service operations: Academic Achievement Programs (includes high impact engagement and academic support initiatives for first-generation, BIPOC and Pell-eligible students), Career Education and Development, Educational Opportunity and Success Programs; Military and Veterans Success Center and Student Transition Programs (includes new student, sophomore and junior transition programs and success initiatives)
Identify and implement strategies to ensure that STAR programs meet the needs of diverse student communities (e.g., racially minoritized communities, LGBTQ+, first-generation, non-traditional, military-affiliated, etc.)
Lead and align STAR operational area strategies and resources with Division and University priorities. Recommend and monitor the usage of budget, personnel, and facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and optimal service delivery to students. Coordinate and execute all contracts for STAR area
Collaborate with academic partners to integrate student success strategies in the curriculum and co-curriculum. Lead strategies to expand students’ access to co-curricular high impact experiential learning opportunities
Co-Chair university Ospreys RISE (Research, Internships, Service Learning, Experiential Education) Planning Team with the Associate Provost for Academic Success
Collaborate with university partners to integrate student success management technology in university retention operations
Lead and support institutional strategies to integrate career readiness strategies in student employment and co-curricular learning experiences
Serve as senior liaison for Student Affairs Enrollment Management partnerships (e.g., recruitment, access programs, orientation, etc.)
Remain current in state and national trends regarding college student transition, retention and post-secondary success. Direct STAR departments’ participation in national college student success research and assessment initiatives and leverage data to effectively plan and communicate the impacts of strategies on student retention and success
Review, revise, implement and monitor procedures and policies related to STAR operations to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines that govern students on college campuses
Collaborate with University partners to identify and cultivate external funding opportunities (e.g., state, and federal grants, donors, etc.) to support student success programs and initiatives
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Earned Doctorate degree
Evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience in a college, university setting
Previous experience supporting or assessing student learning in the classroom at the post-secondary level
Demonstrated success with integrated planning (strategic planning, budgeting, assessment, and communications) and the ability to use data for decision-making.
Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience implementing retention strategies for racially minoritized student communities
Previous success leading student success initiatives that support equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, develop and manage professional staff in a collective bargaining environment
Strong working knowledge of state or federal grant-funded access and success programs (e.g., EOF, TRIO, etc.)
Active involvement or leadership in college/university student transitions, access, retention and success professional organizations (e.g., NODA, NASPA, NACE, NACADA, etc.)
Evidence cultivating inclusive student learning and strategies with academic and campus partners
Prior experience cultivating and managing external financial resources (e.g., state, and federal grants, fundraising and development, etc.)
