Responsibilities*
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan seeks outstanding candidates for an Assistant Research Scientist position in connected and automated transportation systems, particularly on cooperative driving automation, roadside perception and communication, and connected vehicle applications. The candidate will lead efforts to develop smart intersections in the City of Ann Arbor and Mcity’s mobility data center. Successful candidate will contribute to autonomy, a major strategic research thrust of the department. Top candidates will have experience with C-V2X communication, edge-cloud infrastructure, and machine learning models for computer vision applications. Additional duties will include the writing of research publications, preparation of funding proposals, and mentoring of graduate students.
Required Qualifications*
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. or a closely related field. Relevant experience in C-V2X communication, edge-cloud infrastructure, and machine learning models for computer vision applications is required. The successful candidate must also have strong verbal and written communication skills.
