JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tax Analyst is a tax professional responsible for the fiduciary, charitable and individual income tax reporting for Key Private Bank relationships in an outsource environment. The position lends a critical eye to annual and fiscal tax reporting. Provides guidance to other members of the client service team that is proactive and relevant. Requires knowledge of income tax reporting requirements of partnership, alternative investments, and other unique assets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Tax Competencies

Serves as primary contact between client and tax outsource vendor
Coordinates the preparation of fiduciary and charitable tax returns for a more complex set of assigned accounts in collaboration with tax outsource vendor; oversees the collection of documents necessary to complete tax returns
Prepares individual tax returns for a set of assigned accounts
Reviews and pays balances due and quarterly estimated taxes for assigned set of accounts
Demonstrates and applies sound fiduciary judgment to tax matters

Manages taxing authority requests with tax outsource vendor

Client Management

Lends a critical eye to annual and fiscal tax reporting
Provides guidance to other members of the client service team that is proactive and relevant
Assists fiduciary and portfolio strategists with client meetings, cash flow needs for tax payments and income tax impact of selected investments

Team Collaboration:

Provides backup and support for other members of the team
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with other team members to ensure high quality and timely completion of assigned tax returns

Serves as a resource for the team on projects as needed

Compliance

Fulfills Key’s fiduciary responsibilities with utmost adherence to all internal policies and procedures, regulatory and legal requirements
Anticipates and mitigates risk on assigned accounts
Assumes accountability for all delegated fiduciary administrative work on assigned accounts
Keeps current on the latest developments in trust law, tax law, and other issues related to the trust business
Participates in professional training opportunities including seminars and self –learning opportunities

Leadership

Supports business objectives through active advocacy and behavioral adoption

QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience, accounting or finance preferred
3 – 5 years of bank trust tax experience or its equivalent in a high-volume fiduciary tax preparation setting
Experience working with high net worth clients, preferably in a private bank
Self-motivated, goal and results driven
Demonstrated ability to be accountable for a process and/or delivery from end to end
Ability to plan own workflow to meet strict tax deadlines

Demonstrated proficiency and effectiveness in organizational skills including the ability to balance multiple requests and prioritize tasks in an efficient manner or order to support multiple people.
Demonstrated attention to detail.

Ability to learn and use proprietary software, databases and systems including system knowledge of trust accounting system, OneSource Trust Tax, Checkpoint On-Line Research System, CCH Access, and Microsoft Office
