Job Description :
William Paterson University invites application for the full-time position of Budget Director, Academic Affairs.
Reporting to the Provost, the Budget Director is responsible for the fiscal management and budget oversight for the units within the Academic Affairs Division.
The position administers the annual budget development and deployment process in collaboration with unit heads and the University Budget Office. The position also provides leadership for revenue and cost forecasting and strategic resource management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Leads budget development and deployment processes for the Division.
Prepares fiscal management information (reports, charts, analyses, data requests, etc.) for unit heads and consults as necessary to guide appropriate resource stewardship.
Advises Provost, Associate Provosts, and others on matters with fiscal implications, budget planning, and resource allocation based on assessments to achieve continuous improvement.
Provides and enables requisite training and support of staff and faculty with budgetary responsibility.
Conducts revenue and cost forecasts as well as resource-related analyses that inform KPI development, execution, and unit leadership accountability.
Conducts financial expenditure processes, procedures, and proper utilization of funding from diverse sources (e.g., requisitions, invoices, purchases, P-Card use, travel, voucher payments, etc.) for all units within Academic Affairs.
Assists on matters related to the cost of delivering programs, including work with course scheduling with respect to fiscal impacts and deployment for optimal efficiency.
Monitors and initiates actions regarding space/facility issues and capital planning (e.g., inventory updates, renovation/upgrade/equipment requests.
Processes payments for Provost’s Office budgetary programs and expenditures including but not limited to Student Research & Creative Expression Programs, Career Development & Tuition Reimbursement Programs, subscriptions and memberships, service contracts, office equipment, requisitions, etc.
Represents the Division on committees and projects within areas of responsibility.
Collaborates across internal and external constituencies to effect maximum fiscal efficiency and efficacy.
Consults with other colleges and universities, and engages in professional development to ensure currency on best practices and innovative approaches to fiscal management.
May work remotely per hybrid work schedule depending upon institutional need.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Three (3) or more years of professional experience focused on budget and/or finance.
Knowledge of basic principles of accounting.
Experience in financial and budget preparation and planning, internal controls, and financial reporting procedures.
Experience with financial accounting software and related application systems.
Willingness to learn new systems.
Ability to work effectively using standard internet connections such as Teams and Zoom.
Preferred, additional qualifications
Master’s degree in related field such as business administration, finance, accounting.
Five (5) or more years of professional experience focused on budget and/or finance.
Skills and attributes
Ability to communicate effectively in a complex and diverse environment.
Capable of listening without bias and taking into consideration a variety of different wants and needs.
Ability to clearly and concisely explain technical and financial concepts/
