The Clerical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and secretarial tasks to maintain departmental operation
.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Clerical Assistant at Hackensack Meridian
Health includes:
Maintains operation of the clerical services including, but not limited to typing, filing, billing, and transcription.
Assists with special projects as instructed, composes memos, transcribes notes, and researches and creates presentations.
Assists professional staff in retrieving essential patient or general information.
Screens and transfers callers, arranges meetings, maintains files, distributes mail, and maintains office supplies.
Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files.
Generates reports, handles multiple projects, and prepares and monitors invoices and expense reports.
May assist with compiling and developing the annual budget.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center’s Organizational Competencies.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High school diploma.
Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Experience in health care or corporate sectors.
