As part of our continued expansion in the US we are on the lookout for Data Centre Technician to join our growing team. Based in Atlantic City, New Jersey the successful individual will join the global team currently spread across the Americas and Europe. The role will specifically be based out of the Atlantic City area and travel will be required to other locations and sites in the nearby vicinity. There is also an on-call requirement for this position for issues out of normal working hours.The Data Centre Technician will have primary responsibility for providing technical support to the customer base globally and on the ground in Atlantic City. This position is critical to the ongoing operations of the company and the support of its global customers.The RoleAs a Data Centre Technician, you will be responsible for:
Providing technical support to customers in a timely manner. Troubleshooting a variety of IT infrastructure including servers, disks, network cards and data communications equipment.
Providing problem management services by utilizing diagnostic tools to aid in troubleshooting efforts
Installing, move, and configure servers and server related equipment (i.e. servers, switches, routers, disk arrays and misc. technology equipment)
Performing additional functions incidental to computer support activities
Performing periodic operational tasks such as but not limited to tape backup rotation, monthly power consumption readings, shipping/receiving etc.
Establish and maintain configuration documentation and assist with general asset and inventory management processes
Assisting the team of network and system administrators in various projects
Co-ordination and liaison with all other IT staff within the company and with any third party business partner or vendor
Liaise with senior management, product teams, sales team and technology teams as to client needs
Act in accordance with legislation both locally and in all jurisdictions that the Company and its associated companies operate
Comply with all legal obligations and Company Policies group wide including security and health and safety requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:
This individual will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a DC technician capacity or similar experience in a DC environment.
Possess thorough understanding of cabling good practices and general understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts
Familiarity working with Windows, Microsoft Office, UNIX and Cisco systems
Strong knowledge of server, storage & networking hardware
Work independently and with others on tasks with some technical and management guidance
Proven experience managing customer support queries and issues
A proactive approach to work with the initiative to spot potential efficiencies or improvements
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
A motivated individual with drive to ensure internal and external deadlines are met
Attention to detail and ownership of work to ensure it is accurate, meets quality standards, and performed on a timely basis
Able to build good productive relationships with other team members and stakeholders of the business in multiple locations
