Position: Dean

Reporting to: Management

Location: Kolkata

Responsibilities include overseeing of academic and administrative programs including development/implementation of strategic plans, allocation of resources, operational success and the evaluation of results that support the institute’s goals and mission. Provide leadership and direction to students, faculty and staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide leadership for the Department in fostering excellence in Teaching & Research.
Prepare and implement departmental academic plans to meet Institute’s objectives.
Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior. Mentor students and faculty members of department assigned; plan, assign and reviews work; establish goals and assess performance through completion of written evaluations; acts on disciplinary issues; addresses grievances and develops a plan for corrective action. Actively promotes faculty and staff development. Recruitment and retention of high quality faculty;
Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the academics department consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the institute including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate.
Ensure compliance with all regulations.
Establish the master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the Institute’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals. 4. Supervise the instructional programs of the Institute, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the Institute. Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students.
Establish a professional rapport with students and with staff that has their respect. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel. Serve as a role faculty to do the same.
To establish a formal and informal communication network so that student feedback occurs on significant issues and problems in the academic unit. Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

Ph.D in Management/ Media from a reputed University, with 15-20 years of experience in Education/ Research and Industry.
Should posses excellent leadership, team management and communication skills, with the ability to manage students across multiple courses.
