JOB SUMMARY: To help students learn language arts skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. To teach the required curriculum as adopted by the Board.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, reading, journalism to middle school students, utilizing curriculum designated by Greenville Public Schools
Adapts English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students
Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students
Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals focused on student achievement
Evaluates student’s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports
Identifies student’s needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
Exceptional use of technology as a teaching tool
Highest level of integrity and professionalism both in and out of the classroom
Flexibility in schedule and teaching methods
Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Previous teaching experience preferred
Highly Qualified to teach middle school students at all grade levels
Well-versed in best practice instruction methods
Expertise in differentiated learning
Exceptional passion for teaching and learning
High aptitude for forming positive relationships with colleagues, students and parent
Ability to deliver high quality lessons focused on student growth and state standards
Ability to analyze student achievement data and use it for lesson design and delivery in the classroom
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate
Language Arts (BX or BA) Endorsement
