Job Description :
Position Summary:
Estimators are to use their knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, tooling and equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality standards to evaluate and develop a quote in a timely manner from drawings, 3D models, samples and customer interface to determine the most efficient/cost effective method of fabricating parts and assemblies. This position reports to the Estimating Manager.
Principle Accountabilities:

Evaluate, prioritize, schedule, price and follow-up on requests for quotation.

Develop accurate and complete routings, specifying the sequence of the manufacturing process, out-side services, and finishes to develop the piece part price using established rates and standards.

On larger more complex quote packages, select, schedule, and lead a team to review and facilitate the quotation process.

Support engineers and other staff with information pertaining to pricing strategies and/or risk analysis

Propose process and cost alternatives.

Maintain accurate and detail records and schedules of work assigned, keeping the appropriate parties updated accordingly.

Maintain customer accounts to meet current market price points, surcharges and lead-times.

Review historical customer profitability and part efficiencies throughout the manufacturing process.

Skills / Experience

Thorough understanding of the sheet metal and assembly processes; ideally having personal experience in manufacturing operations with lasers, cnc-turrets, cnc-press brakes and mig, tig, robotic welding, fixtures, powder coat and assemblies.

Accuracy and thoroughness: producing work that is complete, timely and accurate conforming to the procedures, polices, contractual/customer, and regulatory requirements.

Organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects, changing priorities, expedites and deadlines with limited assistance from others.

Communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills: establishing and fostering working relationships with sales, customers, production personnel, quality, suppliers, engineering, and department heads to assist in quotation process.

Understanding of computers, spreadsheets and ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning).

The ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings, interpret a variety of technical instructions and manufacturing standards.

The ability to anticipate the effects of proposed changes and perform what if analysis

Skills / Competencies

Basic understanding of Solidworks (3D Sheet Metal Modeling software)

3 years of experience manufacturing within a sheet metal environment preferred

Experience with an ERP system (preferably JobBOSS)

Communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

Ability to flex work schedule to meet timelines

Strong attention to detail; meticulous, patience

Math (geometry) skills

Requires working on a computer the vast majority of the day

You should be proficient in:

Commodity Purchasing Experience
Sourcing and Procurement Experience

Machines & technologies you’ll use:

ERP Software

Salary info:
$25 – $35 / hr
