Job Description :
Summary: The Financial Coaching Specialist is responsible for assisting our Financial Success Center (FSC) clients to reach their goal(s) in learning to adopt better financial and budget choices that improve their financial status through workshops, personal instruction, and counseling. They will also work alongside housing counseling staff to assist with client file maintenance to ensure client system resolutions and client file closings are completed in a timely manner. The position also requires traveling to all housing outreach service offices in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Responsibilities:

Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with clients who are interested in improving their financial well-being by analyzing their credit, developing action plans, and updating client data and progress into all client tracking systems.
Conduct timely follow-ups with clients and make action plans or provide additional coaching to assist with achieving their financial goals.
Understand and respect the uniqueness of each client’s attitudes, beliefs, and values regarding money. Interact with clients in an empowering manner.
Coordinate and conduct in-person or virtual financial educational workshops and other events as assigned.
Attend in-person or virtual outreach events to market FSC services.
Attend all United Way network and check-in meetings as required.
Complete quarterly tracking and reporting on all clients serviced by the program and submit to managers.
Assist with FSC yearly grant renewal process
Participate in the grant writing process for additional funding that would complement FSC services that would be a benefit to clients.
Assist in the workflow planning process to implement new program opportunities.
Assist housing counselors with all aspects of the file maintenance of their current active caseloads as needed.
Attend staff meetings, and agency in-service training, and participate in required certification training as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in human services or related field with 2 to 3 years of previous experience in financial and budget counseling.
NWA Financial Capability Certification (HO208, 209 & 310) or HUD Housing Counselor Certification. (earn within 90 days of hire)
Must have an understanding of how debt is accrued, and be able to identify predatory lending tactics.
Must have the ability to review and understand credit reports, and budget development skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with a wide variety of clients, and ability to exercise knowledge-based judgment and discretion to adapt service delivery as needed
Must be able to work independently and triage priorities, possess excellent follow-up skills, display strong attention to detail, and exhibit strong organization and planning skills.
Ability to work some nights and weekends and periodically travel for training.
Working knowledge of databases; NetSuite, CounselorMax, SIROMS preferred.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet functionality required.

Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
