Job Description :
Role DescriptionAn Equipment Operator will work at sites located in Michigan and the Midwestern United States. The Equipment Operator with report to the Project Superintendent. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Graders, Skid Steers and other pieces of equipment.Responsibilities
Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in underground construction, base preparation and construction, and paving.
Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.
Other construction related duties as required.

Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Expected; at times, to fill the equipment laborer position.
Safety
Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
Work with Project Superintendent and Project Manager to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper reports are filed and procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
Technical Knowledge
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
Knowledge construction materials, construction processes and industry requirements.
Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.

Working Conditions
Out of town and overnight travel is required. Extended over weekends possible.
Overtime as required.
Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
Work is generally seasonal.
Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Must have own transportation to and from job sites.
Qualifications
Minimum Five (5) years of successful construction experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of successful construction equipment operation experience.
Good verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Assertive, highly motivated, organized and a self-starting individual.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and knowledge of how projects are constructed.
Outstanding ability to work with and direct others while taking direction.
Heavy equipment operation.
Knowledge of Global Positioning System (GPS) rover and equipment usage.

Compensation
As an employee of Catskill you will be eligible for health insurance, optional dental and vision insurance, retirement plan and life insurance.
As part of your compensation, we also offer bonus packages. These packages are rewarded annually, semi-annually or on a quarterly basis. Bonuses are largely based on personal and company performance, including health and safety.
