Job Description :
Help provide a brighter future for kids in your community by joining Michigan Education Corps for the 2023-2023 school year!
Join Michigan Education Corps for the 2022-2023 school year as a Reading Corps Interventionist and help kids learn to read using evidence-based, reading interventions. As an interventionist, you’ll help students in kindergarten through third grade to become better readers. With great training and onsite coaching, we’ll prepare you to work one-on-one or in small groups to help kids develop their reading skills and confidence! We are looking for people who have a desire to help kids succeed. Join the team that empowers Michigan kids to reach their highest level of academic achievement in reading and math.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Requires 5 days per week. Position starts 8/29/2022 or 9/6/2022 (depending on school) and ends 6/3/2023 (part time positions also available)
Compensation/Benefits: living stipend of $783.85 biweekly (totaling $1,567.70 per month), education award of up to $3,247.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses; federal student loan forbearance. Interventionists who serve the duration of the school year may elect to complete their Michigan Youth Development Associate (Mi-YDA) credential.
Minimum required qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date.
Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date.
Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
Must pass mandatory pre-service background checks.
Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National.

COVID-19 considerations:School districts across the state are managing their response to COVID-19 in different ways. MEC follows each districts’ safety plan. Some districts are teaching in-person; other districts are teaching virtually. Changes to intervention delivery may occur
