Job Summary:
The HR Benefits Specialist is the subject matter expert of SHI’s Benefits programs and will communicate information of SHI’s Benefits Programs and provide guidance to employees. The Specialist will review and interpret employee benefits requests to respond. The Specialist will handle employee Leave of Absences and communicate state/federal legislation, review ADA medical accommodation, and develop and foster relationships with employees and SHI’s external benefit partners. This position reports to the HR Benefits Administration Manager.

Responsibilities:
Include but not limited to:
Manage the administration of all benefit and retirement programs offered by the company
Uphold and maintain a strong working knowledge of benefit plan provisions, processes, and related legal requirements
Become a subject matter expert in specific benefits and be responsible for the financial monitoring and reporting
Act as a liaison between employees and the company’s insurance providers for assistance on benefit related inquiries and escalations
Update, develop, and ensure accuracy of company plan communications
Provide project management support in the execution of benefit initiatives, projects, and events
Review and manage requests for leave of absences, medical accommodations, and Worker Compensation filings
Audit monthly benefit invoices and approve for payment
Interact and collaborate with HR members outside of the Benefits Team such as Payroll, Employee Relations, and Recruiting
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism
Qualifications:
Completed Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in benefit administration

Knowledge of HR systems and/or carrier systems
