The Refugee and Immigrant Services Program typically works with newcomers to our country who are seeking to become citizens or reunify with family members living in the United States. We provide representation before the Chicago immigration court and asylum office, The Board of Immigration Appeals and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. What will I do as an Immigration Attorney? Our Attorneys provides legal counsel, referrals, representation, and assistance for those that society often sees as the “stranger” in our midst. We serve newcomers to the U.S. who are seeking to become citizens or reunify with family members living in the United States, individuals trying to secure asylum or temporary protection in the U.S., and immigrant victims of domestic violence. What are the requirements? Candidates are required to have a graduated from an accredited law school and have a valid license to practice law. Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish is also required. Prior immigration law practice experience is a plus. This position occasionally will travel, and staff are required to have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and vehicle insurance (liability coverage: $100,000/person and $300,000/accident).
