Job Description :
U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated building maintenance services company, is seeking an Interstate and Maintenance Operator in Chesapeake VA.
Scope of Work:
A maintenance operator who will support VDOT via equipment operations, job safety, emergency operations, preventative maintenance, and manual labor.
Duties include:
Set up work zones, cut brush, clean ditches and pipes, repair roadways, and plow snow.
Perform preventative maintenance and on equipment and power tools.
Conduct emergency roadway operations as an essential employee during snow/severe weather and other emergency events.
Operate light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment safely to perform maintenance and construction related work tasks.
Identify workplace safety hazards and make suggestions for improvement.
Wear proper personal protection equipment.
Maintain current knowledge of safety rules, regulations, laws, and procedures (OSHA and VOSHA, etc.).
Utilize equipment properly and safely.
Apply MUTCD for detours, lane closures, work zones, etc.
Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Follow VDOT safety regulations and practices.
Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal or other types of emergency operations.
Clear roadways of snow, ice, and debris, and clean up after accidents.
Provide traffic control.
Conduct maintenance repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance.
Complete pre-trip inspections for any vehicle or equipment operated.
Participate as a working member of the crew to complete projects and accomplish objectives.
Perform manual labor and other maintenance tasks as needed for project completion.
Other duties as assigned by a VDOT Manager, Direct Supervisor, and/or Project Manager.
May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and changing business practices.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
License/Registrations:
Virginia Driver’s License in good standing
CDL Preferred but NOT Required
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and programs
Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, and methods
Demonstrates experience in equipment operations comparable to that used in highway maintenance/construction activities
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including frequently lifting up to 50 pounds
Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools
Ability to work in inclement weather and to respond to accidents, and emergency/disaster response, etc. during/after normal work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation Range:
$19.00/hourly

Work Conditions:
90-day probation period
Potential for significant periods of sitting or standing
May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments
Monitored performance with routine evaluation
Occasional interaction with the public/media
NOTE: This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Contract Management will determine when essential positions are required.
Valid driver’s license is required. DMV records check is required. Criminal History Records Check and Fingerprint check is required.
