What You’ll Do As An Inventory Control Specialist 2:
Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio State Highway Patrol
Report In Location: 1583 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, 43209
Under the general supervision of the Inventory Control Specialist Supervisor, maintain extensive warehouse inventory of approximately 4,000 items (e.g., act as primary warehouse worker for all warehouse related activities to include order picking, packing, receiving, returning, restocking, down stocking & top stocking; receive all incoming goods & inspects or reviews items for compliance with the division’s specifications & requirements; ensure compliance with the quantities ordered from manufactures in Ohio Buys; contact the manufacturers as required to correct shortages or overages of goods received; report any problems with the uniform deliveries not meeting specifications; monitor receipt & disposal of surplus property in accordance to Department of Administrative Services (DAS) policy); Inspect & review all incoming field returns & process admin returns in the Tailor Shop system in compliance with division’s uniform & equipment standards; Check sizes & quantities of uniforms or goods against vendor provided packing slips prior to receiving them in the Tailor Shop system; Operate various material handling equipment (i.e., order pickers, forklifts & pallet jacks {license required}); Assist in loading & unloading of vehicles as required; Repeated lifting, carrying & moving of objects or in excess of 60 pounds; Assist in decisions on the layout of stock areas to ensure a safe & efficient workplace; Create & label active bins according to warehouse layout designs; Ensure warehouse is clean & orderly; Requisition warehouse & office supply orders in Ohio Buys.
Complete quarterly Stockroom inventory periods & bi-annual Tailor Shop inventory periods; Routinely complete picking generated & spot check stock recounts & addressing any problems with inventory; Manage assignment & return of all assets provided by the Tailor Shop in BIMS; Maintain record of DPS0116 for every asset transaction; Conduct asset inventories for all assets assigned to the Tailor Shop/Stockroom; Create BIMS shipping orders & maintain shipping records of items sent via UPS or FedEx.
Drive department vehicles (including large box trucks, cargo vans, and cars) to make deliveries & pick up goods throughout the state to include, but not limited to filing cabinets, desks, tables, chairs, video tape storage cabinets, lockers, safes, portable truck scales, & other miscellaneous items; Provide logistical assistance if & when emergency deployments occur (may require travel throughout state & possibly overnight travel outside the state); Maintain all department assigned fleet records in accordance to DAS & OSHP policies; Provide necessary copies to OSHP Fleet for fuel receipts & various invoices; Initiate & complete biannual maintenance inspections, timely LOF services & yearly OSHP vehicle inspections performed by LCS; Coordinate any additional service requirements with the staff of fleet management.
Assist with the Highway Patrol Cadet/Basic sizing & order fulfillment process for all incoming & graduating Highway Patrol Cadets & Basics; Assist walk-in customers by utilizing the Tailor Shop system to initiate, check status, review, modify, release or cancel orders for employees & departments; Work on special projects as assigned (i.e., MFF initial equipment issuance & Battelle N95 decontamination); Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in inventory control; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in electronic data processing related to inventory control; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.
Or 9 mos. exp. as Inventory Control Specialist, 64551.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Major Worker Characteristics
Knowledge of: Bookkeeping; Inventory Control; Public Relations; *Agency Policies & Procedures (i.e., inventory control, disposal procedures); Electronic Data Processing.
