Working at the Y, you’ll discover more than a job—you’ll enjoy the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those around you.The Berkeley Heights YMCA, a branch of the Summit Area YMCA (SAY), is seeking childcare superhero to take our daycare and early education efforts to the next level for the 2022-23 School Year. The Assistant Teacher works with the Kindergarten or Preschool Teacher to ensure the children’s daily physical, social, mental development and well-being while in our care. Assistant teachers supervise children as they learn and play, provide comfort and reassurance, plan stimulating activities, and keep children clean and safe. The position requires a professional commitment to the philosophy of the YMCA’s programs and to meeting the needs of its children and families.This part time position is scheduled to work 25 hours each week, with either a morning, 7:00am- 12:00pm, or afternoon, 12:30pm- 5:30pm, shift. With an opportunity to work extra hours during Holiday breaks. Wages are competitive, starting $15/hour, but based on experience. Associates Degree, CDA, or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
Experience or proven performance in a classroom setting.
Demonstrate a willingness to grow professionally.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Must have experience and/or interest in working with young children.
Must possess planning and organizational skills, leadership and personal qualities essential to be an effective teacher – flexibility and patience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
