FULL TIME LEAD BARTENDER (BEER SERVER)
Job Summary
Montclair Brewery is searching for an experienced bartender who is familiar with craft beer and is capable of delivering quality customer service. The Lead Beer Server will be responsible for serving patrons at our front bar and beer garden, fulfilling drink orders, monitoring the cash drawer at the bar and performing beer inventories. The ideal candidate in this position must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, maintain a calm and courteous demeanor with customers, pay attention to details, as well as make effective use of downtime. The lead bartender pays close attention to all operational details to ensure the comfort, safety and enjoyment of guests as well as the financial success of the business.
Responsibilities and Expectations
Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to each client while acting as the front line of our brand
Dispense all drinks based on the serving sizes and designated glassware as outlined in Montclair Brewery’s guide
Be able to educate patrons on craft beer, our industry and our company
Properly perform opening and closing duties of the Tap Rooms and brewery
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled training sessions and meetings
Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, and equipment in accordance with company’s guidelines
Assist during company and community held events
Welcome customers, determine customers’ beverage preferences, make recommendations, and take drink orders
Inform customers about new drinks, specials and events
Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol
Take inventory and order supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked
Make schedule for other bartenders and assist with hiring new front of house staff
Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register
Perform other tasks and duties as requested
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 21 years old
Prior knowledge/ experience in craft beer is required
Strong customer service and interpersonal communications skills
Willing to work a minimum of 35 hours a week (5 – 6 days a week)
Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance
Strong task and time management abilities
Strong willingness and ability to learn
Enthusiastic, engaging, well organized and self-motivated
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods throughout shift
Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, etc and lift up to 35 lbs
