Job Description :
Entech Medical Staffing is seeking a Front Desk Medical Receptionist for a busy practice located with a large client in Novi to join our team of professionals. Must be pleasant, friendly, professional along with a great work ethic. Must be willing to learn new things and have great telephone skills.
Responsibilities
Manages front desk responsibilities, including greet, check-in, register walk-in patients, answer phones and collect patient responsibility
Reviews and/or obtains demographic and insurance information and collects patient responsibility
Informs the patient of the organization expectation of payment at time of service
Greets and checks in patients arriving for their appointments
Ensures patient information is complete and accurate
Collects patient responsibility as identified in the pre-registration process
Completes the registration process on walk-in patients, verifies and/or updates patient demographic and insurance information if changes or additions have occurred
Verifies insurance benefits, obtains/calculates patient responsibility and request payment
Monitors patient flow to ensure patients are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner
Performs visit closure, including checking out patients, collecting additional patient responsibility (when applicable) and providing patient with appropriate documents
Schedules patient visits using guidelines established within scheduling system
Works assigned EMR: work queues, following the department’s work flow process
Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff as well as demonstrates a willingness and ability to work collaboratively with others for concise and timely flow of information
Proactively communicates issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management
Maintains knowledge of and reference materials for guidelines and policies, insurance plans requiring pre-authorization/referral and a list of current accepted insurance plans
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or gen. equiv.
Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in customer service or clerical/office experience, including answering phones and assisting customers in a Healthcare setting
Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues and problems
Respect patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality in accordance to HIPAA requirements.
Medical terminology knowledge
Examines data and draws logical conclusions based on information available
Knowledge and ability to articulate explanations of insurance rules and regulations and comply with updates on insurance pre-certification requirements
Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization, maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanor
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies
Ability to problem solve in a high profile and high stress area, working independently to set and meet deadlines and prioritize work
Demonstrated technical proficiency including experience with insurance verification/eligibility tools, Electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and phone technology
Greeting patients entering the physician practice.
Answering office phones, making appointments, confirming appointments and rescheduling when necessary.
Checks in patients and collects accurate patient demographics, enters data into electronic system and verifies insurance.
Assists in checking out patients and assists them with referral processing and scheduling process
Collects co-pays and posts charges.
Charge entry and patient balance processing.
Distributes information to patients regarding office policies, procedures, information about the practice, etc.
Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
8 hour shift
Day shift
Monday to Friday
