Tasks
Position Summary:
The Microbiologist independently performs laboratory duties, including media preparation, stock culture maintenance, microbial culture preparation, and preservative efficacy testing along with other essential microbiology laboratory functions to provide the NA Sales Team customer support when promoting the Micro Protection product portfolio.
Essential Functions:
1. Perform basic Microbiology laboratory functions, including preparation of media and microbial cultures. Perform stock culture maintenance. Perform preservative efficacy testing 2. Implement and execute microbiology laboratory policies and procedures (SOPs), and update laboratory procedure manual with revisions as needed 3. Maintain sample submission records along with test data. Prepare technical reports as necessary 4. Perform additional Microbiological testing as necessary 5. Provide tours of the Microbiology Laboratory to visiting customers, sales representatives and Symrise staff 6. Maintain laboratory and stockroom consumables inventory 7. Collaborate with CINA Applications Laboratory to perform preservative efficacy testing on personal care and household formulations containing Micro Protection ingredients 8. Train laboratory technicians, temporary personnel and summer interns on microbiology lab practices and procedures
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology and/or Biochemistry.
One year of laboratory experience
Skills & Abilities:
Plan, organize, review, and evaluate all testing in Microbiology Laboratory.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Maintain a well-documented notebook and paperwork.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Skilled in Microsoft 365
