Job Description :
This is a 6.0 hour-per-day, 180 day per-year Paraeducator (4.75 hours) and Nutrition Service I (1.25 hours) position with benefits at Lake Stickney Elementary School.

Hours for this position are 9:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The successful candidate must meet qualifications for the Paraeducator and Nutrition Service positions. Supervision of students during lunch, recess, dismissal. Food service during lunch service. Small group instruction or individual support in academics/social skills. Supervision of students in the afternoon walking group.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience working with elementary age students (ages 6-12).

Dual MESP/MACP position.

Rate of pay for positions:

Paraeducator (4.75 hours): $25.97 – $34.93/hour Nutrition Service I (1.25 hours): $22.98 – $26.46/hour

JOB TITLE: Paraeducator

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Paraeducator – MESP

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program based upon state standards, district curriculum, and effective instruction for students with diverse learning needs. Supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, library, assistance for students riding the bus, and perform crossing guard duties before and after school. May assist with implementation of special education services for students i.e., IEP goals, medical assistance, physical support and personal care.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Under the teacher’s direction, administer multiple student tests, collect and maintain diagnostic and test data, update student records, and assess student progress.
Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff.
Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals.
Provide clerical and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials.
Administer first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or disabled children.
Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids).
Track and dispense authorized student medications.
Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students.
Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess; assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and well-being.
Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs.
Comply with District Policies.
Maintain consistent presence at assigned work site and regularly work hours specified.
May be subject to reassignment of job duties depending on program, building and student needs.
Such other related job duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to provide physical assistance for and properly lift students in and out of chairs in accordance with safe lifting requirements and the use of adaptive equipment as required.
Knowledge of computer applications used to assist with student learning.
Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or its equivalent.
Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits), or have obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree or have successfully passed the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Depending on assignment, may be required to complete behavior modification programs, including safe physical restraining techniques and/or other training as required.

JOB TITLE: Nutrition Service I

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Nutrition Services

REPORTS TO: Nutrition Services Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
Perform a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs at designated school site(s).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist with preparation of food items daily and in a timely manner, including school entrees, a la carte items, and special menu items for the purpose of providing nutritious meals and snacks for students.
Assist with supervision of student helpers and substitutes.
Assist with all functions and duties in the kitchen including receiving, storing, preparing, serving and clean up.
Prepare appropriate quantity of food items by reading and interpreting recipes for large quantities, following USDA meal pattern requirements.
Assist with preparing daily cash records and comply with all cash handling procedures as trained and outlined in manual.
Operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, and warmers for the purpose of preparing food items and maintaining appropriate food temperatures, following health department rules and regulations.
Lift up to 35 pounds in various containers using safe lifting techniques for the purpose of preparing and delivering large quantities of food items to serve students.
Assist with daily cleanup of kitchen and service areas including cleaning and proper storage of dishes, food items, and kitchen equipment for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions at all times.
Practice good safety habits at all times for the purpose of maintaining health and well being of school students and staff.
Perform other duties as required or assigned including ordering/purchasing food and supplies, preparing inventory, and storing supplies for the purpose of maintaining an organized, efficient and safe work environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job

Ability to read and follow recipes, use kitchen equipment, follow safety and sanitation rules, and requirements to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for students.
Complete knowledge of Snohomish County and Washington State food safety, sanitation and proper temperatures including HAACP.
Ability to maintain updated knowledge of school policies and procedures that affect the school nutrition services program and this position.
Ability to participate in job related training.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents.
Ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions.
Ability to do math calculations and make correct change at a high school level.
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to be flexible in meeting deadlines.
Ability to correctly and safely lift up to 35 pounds.

Education

High school diploma or its equivalent.
Washington State Health Card Required.

Preferred Education and Experience

ServSafe certification desired.
Previous experience in the food industry preferred.
Vocational training in the food service industry preferred.
