Position Descripion:
The PA-C, ANP or FNP position will provide primary, urgent and preventative care as part of PMC medical healthcare provider team. Responsibilities:
Perform routine general medical and specialized duties served by Petersburg Medical Center
Provide primary, urgent, LTC, Home Health, preventive and emergent healthcare services including evaluation, treatment and follow-up according to the technical and educational expertise and respective scope of practice, and under the direction of the Petersburg Medical Center Staff
Consult a supervising or designated physician when any unfamiliar, uncommon or unstable conditions arise
Remain current in improvements in the field or medicine and strive to incorporate those improvements into the program when appropriate, maintaining licensure and other credentials as required
Provide health screening through prenatal, well-born and well child evaluations, immunizations and TB testing in cooperation with other providers
Provide patient education, screening, follow-up and other health related conditions
May provide emergent health services at Petersburg Medical Center, including responding on an on-call basis for after hour emergencies preferred
Monitor chronically ill patients, making home visits as needed
Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality for all patient information
Accurately and promptly document into chart, provide coding, billing or other financial information and follow-up insurance pre-authorizations as required or requested
Provide after hours on-call health services as required or directed by Medical Staff
Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, subordinates, management and staff; practice meaningful customer service skills addressing patient and staff needs courteously and promptly
Coordinate and participate in community outreach programs, integrated primary care project(s) and participate in PMC committees (i.e., medical staff, pharmacy, therapeutics quality)
Attend all OSHA, HIPAA and other regulatory compliance training as directed or required
Other duties as assigned
Required Specifications – Education, Experience and / or Training – Minimum Qualifications:
Current Certification by the National Commission of Physician’s Assistants or Current Certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurse Credentialing Center (NP). Current Alaska license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Physician Assistants must have collaborating agreement with current member of PMC Medical Staff and have regular contact with their supervising physician. Either the supervising or designated physician must be available in person or by phone during all times of patient care.
Preferred:
Experience serving as a solo provider, remote community and ER
ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS
Post training clinic experience in specialty
The position reports to the Medical Director
