Role: HR Business Partner – Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Florida

Location: Home office / branch in Northeast, Mid-Atlantic or Florida Region
Reports to: Sonja Narcisse, CHRO

Summary:

The Regional Human Resources Business Partner (RHRBP) will be responsible for all aspects of human resources management for Maxim Crane employees located in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions, which encompass Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts. There are approximately 1,000 people currently employed in these regions, of which approximately 800 are unionized.
This position will be an active member of the HR Lead Team. The HR Lead Team is responsible for planning and executing company-wide strategic HR initiatives to make talent an advantage by championing culture and engagement, talent management and operational excellence. Examples of HR Lead Team activities include the development and deployment of a performance management process, HR policies and workforce planning.
The RHRBP manages one direct report who supports HR activities and customer service in the Mountain West, West and Central regions.

Responsibilities:

The RHRBP will be responsible for achieving the following objectives in his/her region:

Enhance employee engagement and culture
Improve communications between management and staff
Attract and retain talent
Implement talent management strategies, including performance management, career development and high-quality training programs
Deploy consistent company-wide HR policies and procedures
Maintain competitive standards for compensation in line with local markets and business requirements
Workforce planning and budgeting in the region for professional to operational staff
Employee on- and off-boarding at branch / regional level
Engage local union leadership on employment pipeline and trends
Deploy and monitor HR initiatives

Specific activities include:

Provide leadership and promote Maxim Crane’s values, mission and vision by implementing HR initiatives throughout branches within the region.
Provide ongoing feedback to branch management teams on their performance and identify developmental opportunities.
Analyze the skills and qualities required for each role and develop job descriptions and skills matrices to reflect requirements.
Manage all personnel files including employment files, fitness for work and performance management files.
Provide advice and direction to the Regional Vice President and Branch Managers with respect to HR policies, market trends and performance issues.
Coach Branch Managers to ensure consistent HR practices and procedures are followed.
Ensure that all recruitment activities occur in a timely and professional manner taking into consideration to both technical ability and cultural fit.
Lead change management processes within the region and ensure alignment with organizational growth and business goals.
Provide timely information and reporting for business, regulatory and union requirements, including projections and identification of performance gaps.
Assist branches in maintaining appropriate staffing, skills and experience to meet business needs by ensuring that recruitment processes are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
Manage talent at the branch level to ensure required skills are developed and maintained; talent development and gap analysis, identify training needs to meet business requirements now and in the future.
Provide advice, support and input to the HR Lead Team to ensure competitive compensation in relation to local labor markets.
Manage communications with and expectations of external stakeholders.
Manage budget for regional HR function, track costs and identify opportunities for reducing spend / costs.

Skills & Qualifications

10-15 years in Human Resources with several years as HR Manager / Business Partner.
Extensive practical experience in and knowledge of Workers Compensation processes, procedures, and legislation.
Experience in a Change Management environment (preferred).
Experience in implementing performance management systems (preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
