Job Description :
General Position Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for purchasing and managing the purchases of assigned products competitively within established grades and standards in a timely fashion. This position is also responsible for developing product category programs alongside marketing and sales. Essential Functions * Manages the purchase of assigned products competitively to specification by worker with vendors and negotiating deals
Continuously networks and seeks out alternative product sourcing solutions that offer an advantage to Vine Line and our customers
Assists with the hiring, development and managing the performance of the procurement team
Coaches the procurement team members to develop the skills needed to produce the highest quality of work most efficiently and efficiently
Serves as the procurement team “voice” throughout the organization while collaborating with other departments and other members of the leadership team.
Partners with other FreshEdge companies to maximize intercompany purchases and streamline processes
Implements processes to improve inventory turns, reduce out of stock, control shrink and maintain FIFO inventory
Implements and enforces systems to monitor product quality to ensure customer satisfaction, by daily visual quality checks and monitoring daily inventory reports. Communicate quality issues with operations and quality control
Manages incoming freight for timely arrivals to eliminate out of stock and to improve operational efficiencies
Supply cost and market trends to the sales and customer service staff for the development of books, education, and daily selling opportunities
Negotiate and report to Sales Manager ad pricing, flash buys and hot buy offerings available from shippers.
Supply market opportunities of deal product to sales team for development of incremental sales.
Identify, present, negotiate and develop product programs and/or item development with marketing and sales.
Assist in account sales for sales penetration, service levels and profit ability.
Utilize and/or help develop technology to improve the efficiencies of procurement.
Negotiate contracts and accruals.
Interact with the sales/customer service team in a continuous and open flow of information manner.
Maintain regular and satisfactory full-time attendance.
Perform work outside of normal business hours as needed and required.
Other Functions
Assist marketing and sales to market products and programs to specified accounts.
Assist with daily and monthly physical inventory as needed.
Perform special projects as assigned.
Physical Demands
Travel by driving auto or by flying commercially as needed and required (includes overnight).
Stand or sit for long periods of time.
Prerequisites for Position
A related bachelor’s degree and at least 1 years recent and successful experience as a Procurement Manager in the produce industry or at least 4 years successful experience as a Senior Buyer in the produce industry.
Proficient skills in Produce Pro or similar software, Microsoft Office and common E Mail systems are required.
Valid identification or driver’s license (if appropriate).
