Job Description :
REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be City of Newark Residents.
The Newark Department of Health and Community Wellness is seeking a Coordinator for the Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS), a federally funded program designed to assist Newark in planning for, coordinating and responding to public health emergency or mass casualty events within the jurisdiction. Newark MMRS focus is on the maintenance of a robust network of public health and medical services responders including the greater Newark hospitals, federally qualified health centers, local health departments and other partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
MMRS Coordinator during a public health emergency including a mass casualty event, under the direction of the Emergency Management Coordinator and Health Officer will maintain communication with member hospitals and other partners and communicate their needs to the EM Coordinator. Participate as a member of the Department of Health and Community Wellness Emergency Response Team to perform the actions required to mitigate the event.
· Write, implement and monitor annual MMRS Spending Plan/Annex.
· Coordinate the plans and activities of the MMRS membership steering committee and other subcommittees of the Newark MMRS.
· Maintain MMRS calendar. Facilitate meetings.
· Plan and execute MMRS exercises and trainings
· Purchase equipment and maintain inventory system.
· Prepares reports and correspondence.
· Maintains records and files.
· Attend regional MMRS meetings, UASI and other meetings for emergency response preparedness.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration or related field.
REQUIREMENTS:
Certificate in emergency preparedness preferred. Two years’ experience in emergency response activities such as those provided by police or fire, or rescue, medical or emergency medical service units either in the public or private sector or in the military service. Or master’s degree in public health or related health field accompanied by demonstrated graduate school training in the field of emergency response.
LICENSE: Possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
