About Gregor Diagnostics Gregor Diagnostics Inc. is a Madison, WI based, venture-backed, molecular diagnostics company developing a groundbreaking screening test for prostate cancer. Gregor’s test will be the first of its kind to not only detect prostate cancer at the earliest stages but also differentiate between indolent and aggressive cancer.
Summary of Major Responsibilities The Research Associate will be involved in Research and Development projects as a technical lead and/or a subject matter expert in exploring and researching new technologies, providing ideas and concepts to improve or develop processes, and/or establish methods and processes for product development for diagnostic assays.
The successful candidate will support the research and development of a diagnostic device for the early detection of prostate cancer. Responsibilities of this position include design, development and optimization of current and future molecular biology processes at Gregor Diagnostics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Development of novel sample stabilization and processing techniques for the preservation and detection of biomarkers in seminal fluid. Improvement on current nucleic acid practices and techniques at Gregor Diagnostics Employing statistical methods in data analysis and results interpretation. Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio of the company by implementing innovative and creative ideas to solve problems or improve on current methods used. Participates in technical decisions affecting research and development issues. Presents information at project meetings and may present findings at scientific meetings. May prepare and/or contribute to articles for publication. Maintains lab notebook in a complete and consistent manner as well as keeping clear and complete records. Qualifications Education and industry experience: BA/BS or MS in Life Sciences or related field plus a minimum of 2 years of industry experience, Previous experience in research and development in the biotechnology or life science industry. Technical expertise in molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Experience with DNA or RNA extraction from clinical samples Experience with PCR and other molecular biology techniques. Experience with quantitative PCR is a plus. Experience using statistical data analysis software. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience documenting research protocols and reporting results is a necessity. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing plans and circumstances. Ability to prioritize, organize and work under tight timelines. Experience with product development for use in an FDA-regulated environment including designing analytical validation studies, ideally in medical device development is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to work for up to 8 hours a day in an office environment. Ability to work up to 6 hours a day in a laboratory environment. Ability to learn and understand scientific concepts and keep current on the scientific literature and technologies.
