Position InformationJob Title: Respiratory Therapy Lab SupervisorBargaining Unit: PT AFSCME 975 (2172.16)Assignment Location: Center Campus
Job FunctionProvide support to the RSPT students and faculty with curriculum activities and competencies.Job Responsibilities· Guide small student groups through various skills taught in the labs· Guide scripted scenarios· Provide students with alternate perspectives on learning material.· Provide open lab hours in the RSPT lab for student use· Provide students with opportunities for remediation· Assist faculty with evaluation of student performances of required skills· Provide feedback to respiratory therapy faculty regarding student progress/lack of progress· Assist faculty in ensuring that accreditation standards are met· Assist in the preparation of equipment for instruction before each class· Help keep equipment organized after each class session· Ensure that equipment is clean, functioning properly and is used safely· Secure and maintain proper amounts of supplies/equipment· Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Dean of Health and Human Services. Takes direction from RSPT faculty.SUPERVISION GIVEN: None
EducationMust be Registered Respiratory Therapist. Michigan Respiratory Therapy License required.
Preliminary QualificationsTwo years clinical experience required to allow for expertise in related topic/field.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have the knowledge and be able to perform all the skills required of RSPT graduates. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Must have good communication skills. May be required to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Attention to detail and organization important.
Physical DemandsSome heavy lifting may be required, including loads up to 50lbs.Work Hours To be scheduled by the department, but not to exceed 20 hours per week for 42 weeks.
