POSITION OPEN ANNOUNCEMENT
School Counselor
General Description: Counsels students and provides group educational and vocational guidance services. Studies occupational, educational, and economic information to aid students in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives. The school counselor will perform in such a manner as to ensure the best education possible for the students of the MVCTC.
Qualifications:
1. Must hold or qualify for a school counselor license
2. Know and appreciate various cultures and the larger global society and how to establish rapport with a diverse population of students and parents
3. Capable of relating to groups of students in large group assemblies, as well as in small groups or in individual sessions with students
4. Capable of relating to counselors in the partner schools
5. Adhere to FERPA and other laws relating to confidentiality of information
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products and the ability to learn MVCTC specific software programs along with the ProgressBook Student Information (DASL) database
7. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of high stakes testing to students and the District
8. Capable of relating a student’s abilities to a given occupation
9. Possess an understanding of the world of work we live in today
10. Understand the philosophy of career-technical education
11. Must be a self starter who possesses the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
12. Ability to travel to the partner schools and use various audio-visual equipment
13. Be familiar with Ohio’s graduation requirements
14. Experience with high stakes testing for students (ACT, end-of-course state tests, etc.)
15. Be able to work in an environment with multiple deadlines and adhere to all timelines
Length of Contract: 185 days with applicable extended service
Start Date: August 10, 2022
