Summary of Duties:

The Coordinator will be responsible for creating a Washington Career Launch program, Teaching Bridge, to connect high school students in Teaching Academies to WSU Tri-Cities for two years of job-embedded learning and paid apprenticeships in partner school districts. This position will be responsible for building the program based on project aims; liaising with Kennewick School District, Educational Service District 123, and other partners to establish this Career Launch program in accordance with state guidelines for Career Connected Learning Experiences; and working with WSU Tri-Cities faculty and administration to align coursework and course offerings to teacher preparation coursework and work-based education standards.

This position will be responsible for reporting to the State of Washington in collaboration with program faculty for budgeting and grant compliance. The Coordinator will work closely with district personnel to establish contact with Teaching Academy students and their families, increase the profile of the Teaching Bridge with these populations, and connect them with WSU Tri-Cities staff to aid them with application and matriculation to WSU Tri-Cities. This position will serve as the main point of contact between WSU Tri-Cities and the state, districts, and other project stakeholders. The Coordinator will be responsible for preparing and submitting a successful application for the Teaching Bridge to receive a Career Launch Endorsement.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Must have proven skills in organization and coordination of large, multifaceted projects, such as meeting planning, unit organization, etc.
Evidence of effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree.
Experience in higher education and/or with K-12 school systems.
Experience with compliance and federal or state program coordination.
Experience working with diverse and underrepresented student populations.
Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
