Job Description :
Primary responsibilities include performing all aspects of permitting and monitoring wetland, stream, threatened and endangered species, and nutrient mitigation projects. Activities include feasibility analysis of mitigation sites, technical writing, and working with federal, state, and local agencies. Additional duties would include database development and analysis, technical reports, and attending site visits. Fieldwork will be required and may include aiding with various field surveys, wetland delineations, vegetation monitoring, and oversight of consulting specialists.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Delivery of mitigation banking instruments, permits, mitigation site plans, comment response documents, and other regulatory reports associated with permitting approval and operation of mitigation banks
Tracking permit schedules, restoration milestones, and reporting requirements
Providing field support with site coordinators for data collection and submittal of technical reports
Coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain project permits and approvals, including rare, threatened and endangered species, and cultural clearances
Assisting in developing new projects in existing and emerging environmental offset markets
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Ecology, Botany or similar science
5+ years of direct work experience in all aspects of 404/401, NWP/IP, NPDES, ESA, and relative environmental permitting
Good teamwork skills, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills
Attention to detail and strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills
Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solving
Ability to travel as needed
Strong ArcGIS mapping software and Google Earth skills
DESIRED:
Resume of three or more successfully-permitted Mitigation Banking Instruments, Permittee-Responsible Mitigation Plans, and/or Nation-Wide Permits
Advanced understanding of restoration design principles, approaches, supporting technical information, and engineering design plans
Experience with permitting wetland and stream mitigation projects in multiple districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Experience permitting threatened and endangered species mitigation projects in multiple regions of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Strong record of developing positive relationships with regulatory agency personnel
Proficient knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD
