Job Description :
The Teachers will facilitate and administer the Summer Program. There duties will include but not be limited to the following.
1. Registration of all participating students2. Daily attendance3. Conduct daily group sessions; twice daily at the beginning and end of the day.4. Supervise lunch detail for students5. Chaperone all field trips6. Schedule all summer activities including field trips7. Facilitate the Youth Empowerment Solutions Program to FMS Students
Summer Camp starts June 27, 2022, and ends August 5, 2022. Your work schedule with consist between the times of 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m, Monday- Thursday, Fridays off. Training schedules will be sent out if you are chosen for the roles.
Youth Empowerment Solutions for Positive Futures; participating students are identified by Ferndale Middle School Teachers. Focus is placed on students who reside in hard to serve areas and are experiencing academic and personal challenges with their academic and social development. (high risk of academic failure). Yes- PF is led by Dr. Sarah Stoddard Professor from the University of Michigan and Southeast Oakland Coalition Evaluator. Our Model is to recruit youth. Dr. Stoddard trains FMS teachers/ facilitators to deliver the evidence based curriculum to students identified as high risk of academic failure and behavioral challenges. The program was implemented successfully at FMS in years prior to Covid-19. Students completed projects such as building benches, shutters and growing plants that are currently in the atrium in Ferndale Middle School & High School adjoining educational facilities.
